Class Description:

Create A Mixed Media Sculpture!

Have you always wanted to create a 3D sculpture but didn’t want to fuss with clay or other “traditional” mediums?  In this two-day class, you’ll learn how to create a dynamic 14” sculpture using beginner-friendly, affordable materials that you probably already have at home!

We’ll start with a pre-built copper wire armature on a base.  Once we’ve built up our sculptures, we’ll prep them with a Gesso and liquid polymer base. Then it’s time to unleash our designer instincts and dress our creations. You’ll be free to make the clothing chic and fashionable or wild, funky and elaborate – the sky is the limit! Last, but not least, we’ll add some finishing touches with accessories (optional) and dry-brush techniques. You’ll then varnish your sculpture to make it more durable and archival.

This class is open to all skill levels. Beginners are welcome, be prepared for a fast-paced class covering a lot of techniques.

Supplies Needed:

ALL CLASS MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED IN THE CLASS FEE.

All materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own fabrics and accessories. If you do use your own fabric, the material must be 100% natural.  Feel free to contact the instructor at the e-mail below if you have questions about fabrics or accessories.

Students wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting paint, paste or liquid polymer on.  Consider bringing an apron and, if desired, latex gloves to protect your hands will be provided by the instructor.  If gloves are not worn, rings and bracelets should be removed.  Materials can be messy!

Meet The Instructor:

Erin brings a strong background in both education and the arts, having earned a Master Training Specialist designation during her military service and over 15 years of experience in curriculum development. She has taught fiber arts for more than a decade and previously served as both workshop coordinator and instructor for the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival.

While her experience spans a wide range of fiber arts, Erin has discovered her true artistic passion in mixed media sculpting. She is drawn to the versatility and ever-evolving nature, allowing for both creativity and intricate detail, that mixed media provides.

“Mixed media allows me to bring my ideas to life with a level of detail I haven’t been able to achieve in other mediums. The possibilities are endless, and I look forward to sharing my passion with you.”

  • No refunds will be issued for dropping the workshop during the class/session.
