Class Description:

This class will capture the Great Blue Heron in all its serene beauty. Focus techniques will include the loose but deliberate background and using a pallet knife to ‘pull’ feathers. Keeping the spotlight on our subject will mean we have to maintain crisp white edges and highlights to illuminate the bird.
Meet The Instructor:

I was born in California, attended college in Iowa earning a degree in secondary education. We became an Air Force family, which meant not only travel, but it meant I connected with a variety of jobs all involving teaching, training and creativity. My creative skills began with woodcarving, but I always wanted to try my hand at watercolor. I started taking classes with artists Bev Joswiak, Vickie Nelson, Gene Drake, Bridget Austin and many others. I love watercolor and I am still captivated with all the different effects and moods that come from my brush. I have taught many classes and continue to enjoy sharing my skills with others. I’ve been shown in many galleries successfully, been commissioned to paint pets and subjects, and competed in Wisconsin WRAP events.
Supplies Needed:
Participants should have professional grade watercolors; including shades of blues and turquoise for the heron and your choice of colors for the background. Bring a variety of good quality brushes and I recommend 12’x16’ sized paper. If possible, use 300lb paper, although 140lb will work. If you have a pallet knife, please bring it to class. Don’t forget your water containers and paper towels!
Cancellations & Refunds:
No refunds will be issued for no shows.
No refunds will be issued for dropping the workshop during presentation.
No refunds for cancellations one week prior to class.
Approved cancellations will incur a $10 processing fee.
The Zoom recorded class will be available to all students who have paid for the class for 30 days following the workshop.
If the Workshop is cancelled due to the Instructor, or GLAF, a full refund with no cancellation fee will be issued.
