Class Description: Capturing a Dog's Likeness in Oils

Day One:  We will cover an overview of materials and a demo on how to draw and block in a value study drawing of a dog portrait from and 8” x 10” photo to an 11” x 14” canvas panel.  Each student will draw and block in their dog portrait by the end of the first day onto their canvas.

Day Two:  A demo of applying oil paint to lock in, define the details of a dog’s face, show fur, and produce a likeness.  Color mixing and brushwork techniques will be applied to their dog portrait. Individual instruction and guidance during this process will be provided. Each student will take-away at the end of the class an oil painting likeness of their cherished pet.

All levels welcome.  Drawing skills and previous painting experience are beneficial.  No experience in oils is necessary, but some background in any painting medium would be helpful.
