Paint A Country Garden in a Day

Ready to elevate your painting skills? This one-day workshop is designed for intermediate acrylic and oil painters who want to create a vibrant country garden landscape - all in a single sitting. A reference photo will be provided, or you can personalize the scene and make it uniquely your own.

Enjoy the experience of painting in a plein air style—capturing light, color, and atmosphere—without the outdoor distractions (or bugs!).

The workshop begins with a guided approach to sketching your composition directly onto canvas using provided alcohol markers, including a simple value study to set the foundation for your piece. From there, you’ll explore color mixing, painting from dark to light, layering techniques, and the use of mediums. With acrylics drying quickly, you’ll gain confidence in making decisive decisions for color choices.

By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a beautiful 12” x 16” country garden painting—and new skills to bring more energy and spontaneity to your work.

A fun, inspiring day of creativity awaits!

Meet The Instructor:

I have loved art and drawing my entire life. I have been an avid oil and acrylic painter for over 30 years. I enjoy painting commissioned animal portraits and painting “en plein air” locally and across the country. I received my degree from the University of Illinois in Biology Education with a minor in Art. I have furthered my art education with numerous in-person and online classes

by nationally known art instructors. My artwork reflects my love of nature, animals, and landscapes. It reflects an impressionistic, painterly style, in which I try to be a poet and not a

reporter in my paintings. I am active in local and national art organizations and have been a member of Geneva Lake Arts Foundation and its prior organization for over 25 years. I exhibit my paintings at Gallery 223 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and at various locations in the Midwest and West.
