Class Description:

Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a bold and inspiring watercolor experience.  In this intermediate level class, artists will create a striking eagle portrait on black paper – capturing the strength, freedom and spirit of our nation in a dramatic and contemporary way.  Working on a dark surface allows colors to glow with intensity while challenging you to refine layering, contrast and control.  This class is perfect for those ready to expand their watercolor skills while honoring a historic milestone through art.

Meet The Instructor:

I was born in California, attended college in Iowa earning a degree in secondary education.  We became an Air Force family, which meant not only travel, but it meant I connected with a variety of jobs all involving teaching, training and creativity.  My creative skills began with woodcarving, but I always wanted to try my hand at watercolor.  I started taking classes with artists Bev Joswiak, Vickie Nelson, Gene Drake, Bridget Austin and many others.  I love watercolor and I am still captivated with all the different effects and moods that come from my brush.  I have taught many classes and continue to enjoy sharing my skills with others.  I’ve been shown in many galleries successfully, been commissioned to paint pets and subjects, and competed in Wisconsin WRAP events.

Supplies Needed:

Participants should have professional grade watercolors; suggested colors include white titanium, oranges, cobalt, yellow and gold ocher. Brushes to include one medium large (3) and sizes 6 or 4: round with good points. The black paper, special transfer paper and some paint will be provided.  Also, don’t forget your water containers, apron and towels.
