Class Description:

Capture the warmth and beauty of late summer in this watercolor workshop featuring two expressive sunflowers reaching toward the light. Learn techniques for creating luminous petals, rich textured centers, and vibrant green foliage while exploring layering, glazing, and color blending. This intermediate-level class is designed to build confidence while creating a loose yet realistic floral painting, you'll be proud to display.

Meet The Instructor:

I was born in California, attended college in Iowa earning a degree in secondary education.  We became an Air Force family, which meant not only travel, but it meant I connected with a variety of jobs all involving teaching, training and creativity.  My creative skills began with woodcarving, but I always wanted to try my hand at watercolor.  I started taking classes with artists Bev Joswiak, Vickie Nelson, Gene Drake, Bridget Austin and many others.

I love watercolor and I am still captivated with all the different effects and moods that come from my brush.  I have taught many classes and continue to enjoy sharing my skills with others.  I’ve been shown in many galleries successfully, been commissioned to paint pets and subjects, and competed in Wisconsin WRAP events.

Supplies Needed:

Participants should have professional grade watercolors; suggested colors include Quin Gold, New Gamboge, Azo or Winsor Yellows, Permanent Sap Green, Shadow Green or Perryn Green, Leaf Green, Burnt Sienna and Purple. Brushes to include one medium large (3) and sizes 6 or 4: round with good points. Paper to have 140lb cold press, 12”x16”.  Also, don’t forget your water containers, apron and towels.
