Julie began her study of painting over 50 years ago with C.L. Peterson, a nationally recognized watercolorist. Over the last 25 years she has studied at Main Street Art Center in Lake Zurich, Illinois. She continues to enroll in professional painting workshops with prominent artists such as Margaret Baumgaertner, whose work appears on the cover of the book "The Best of Portrait Painting", and Rommel de la Torre, winner of Artist Magazine's 1997 national portrait competition and front cover. Painting in oil and pastel, she focused on painting commissioned portraits for over 20 years. Her portraits hang in private and corporate collections across the country, one of which is in the home of Paul Ryan. Professional memberships include the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation and the Portrait Society of America. Having 'retired' from commissioned portraits, she now enjoys painting large florals, still life, and other figurative subjects.
