Claudette McShane is a retired college professor and former social worker. She started her watercolor journey early in 2020 by taking a watercolor class at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Although the pandemic forced the cancellation of her next in-person class, Claudette quickly turned to online courses and teachers from all over the world. She continues to hone her skills by taking workshops with renowned watercolor teachers. and has experimented with Suminagachi and monotype.
Claudette’s inspiration comes from nature, geometry, and the element of surprise that is inherent in the watercolor process. She often adds pen and ink to her paintings and is intrigued by intuitive art styles. Claudette is a member of the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation and the International Society of Experimental Artists. She lives in Northbrook, Illinois.
